Suzuki Methode

Sandrine Schär-Chiffelle and Dr. Shinichi Suzuki

Developed in the 1940’s by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, this method is based on the principle that children can learn various skills, like playing music, in the same way they learn to speak their mother tongue:

  • The child is immersed in a musical atmosphere from the time he is very young, just as he is immersed in the sounds of his mother tongue.
  • The teacher and the parents create a loving and encouraging atmosphere that strongly motivates the child.

The Suzuki method enables children to attain advanced levels of musical competence; an impressive number of Suzuki students have gone on to become professional musicians. The ultimate aim of the Suzuki approach is not only music, however, but also the development of the full potential of every child through music. That is why the method is also called «Talent Education».
